About the project

Analysing the political, cultural, and socio-economic agency of non-Ukrainians in Ukraine from a transnational perspective is at the core of this project. The research will mainly focus on Poles, Jews, and Russians, numerically and historically the most relevant nationalities, but will also examine Germans, Greeks, Belarussians, Czechs, and Romanians/Moldovans. The overlapping research questions structure the project into five work packages:

• In-group transformations among non-Ukrainians
• Non-Ukrainians’ interactions with state authorities
• Non-Ukrainians’ external relationship with co-nationals and kins outside of Ukraine
• Interactions among non-Ukrainian groups
• The ways non-Ukrainians’ experienced violence
